Hi Guys, thanks for joining me. Welcome to the site Table Tennis Hacker. I’ve called it that because I’m a table tennis hacker myself in terms of my play (a lot of it I’ve self taught along the way in recent years), and also because I like hacking around with computers. I’ve got a computer background from where I used to work, so I thought the name Table Tennis Hacker was rather appropriate.
I’ve been off the Internet for a little bit due to some family and health issues but touch wood, everything is pretty much sorted out now, so I was looking to get back online and do some stuff on the Internet again, and have some fun with it. I thought that rather than just repeat what I’ve done at the past at About.com and do all that sort of stuff again, I’d do something different and something fun that I could enjoy.
What I’m going to do at Table Tennis Hacker is just basically do a video probably 4 or 5 times a week, maybe more if I feel like it and have got stuff to talk about, but really just as a brief video of a conversation – me to you, sometimes maybe a demonstration of something, a technique or something I’ve learned, and just treat it as one table tennis hacker talking to you guys – other table tennis hackers like myself.
So not necessarily aimed at professional stuff, just ordinary table tennis players having a chat. I’ve tried to learn a little bit from past feedback on my videos, and I’m going to try to keep these videos under 5 minutes, some of my stuff before got a bit long. I figure if I can’t get my point across in less than 5 minutes I’m probably talking too much. So we’ll see if I can keep them brief!
I’ve set up a bit of a forum if you guys want to ask me questions or get me to comment on a video, I’ve got comments on the website, I’ve got a few topics lined up but if anybody wants to ask me anything that’s fine and I’m just going to try and put out a video most days, just anything that catches my fancy about table tennis that I want to talk about. And so, again, thanks for popping by, come back again there should be some more stuff coming up pretty soon. I’ll try and keep it flowing through and yeah, anything you want to ask me feel free, go ahead and I’ll do my best to answer it.
So again, thank you, welcome to the site.
Oops! One small proviso…
One quick thing to add before I knock off for the day, in terms of asking me anything – I really don’t mind about table tennis, ask me whatever you like, but just one things guys to take note of is that if you want to ask me about brands of rubber, or different brands of blades, I’m not the right guy to ask.
Over the last 10 years or so I’ve basically used two different blades, one attacking blade, one defensive blade, and I’ve used kind of like pretty much two or three rubbers, some Killerspin Blast attacking rubbers, Domination for my smooth defensive rubber and Stiga Destroyer for my long pips and that’s pretty much been it.
So if you want to ask me should you use Tenergy 80 or Tenergy 64 I really don’t know, I’ve never used them, I don’t play with them, what I know is the same thing you know, what I read on the Internet about them.
If you want to ask me should you use an allround blade vs a defensive blade, yeah I can give you an opinion on that, because I know about that, but as far as actual brands I don’t really keep up with them and I don’t worry about it very much until I decide that I want to change my rubber and I look for something else. I’m quite happy with my current two setups that I use so I’m not really up to date with what’s the best long pips for disruption, I’m happy with my Destroyer, I’m not really looking to change it, so I don’t know whether the Grass D-Tecs is better than Cloud & Fog or Giant Talon or any of that stuff.
So just bear in mind with that if you want to ask me general information about attacking blades or fast rubbers, sure I can give you an informed opinion, but brands themselves, no , I don’t know. There are people who know who play with this stuff all the time, I just can’t give you a real informed opinion on that one. So just bear that in mind, that’s all OK? Thanks guys.
